5 truly essential oils

Essential oils are little wonders of nature, and sometimes real life savers. As part of best-known natural remedies, they are available in various places (pharmacies, online, health shops, cosmetic retailers, etc.) without a prescription. Discover below 5 essential oils that are truly essential, and can be useful to you on a daily basis.

Eucalyptus essential oil

Eucalyptus essential oil is a kind of “miracle cure” for all kinds of respiratory problems. Eucalyptus is also used in various medicines to treat infectious respiratory diseases such as bronchitis or pneumonia.

Thus, eucalyptus essential oil can be used daily to treat wet coughs, flu, fever and colds. Just put a few drops in a bowl of boiling water and inhale the steam. You can also use a diffuser. Do be careful to close your eyes while inhaling!

Very effective in decongesting the respiratory tract, it is also recommended to relieve sinusitis and respiratory allergies. Apply it directly to the sinuses and temples.

Eucalyptus essential oil can also ease joint and muscular pain. Simply apply a few drops to the affected area and massage gently.

Lavender essential oil

Lavender essential oil is all you need if you have trouble falling asleep. Before sleeping, take half a glass of milk, add 10 good drops of lavender essential oil to it. Mix, then pour into a warm bath and bathe until the water cools. Then get into bed and enjoy a good, deep, restful sleep!

Note that lavender essential oil bath is also very effective in relieving stress and anxiety. However, to regain your zen attitude, you can also consume lavender essential oil by inhalation using steam or a diffuser.

Clove essential oil

Clove essential oil has long been proven to soothe dental pain. Indeed, thanks to its anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties, it is able to quickly relieve toothache. For this, put 2 drops of clove essential oil in a glass of warm water. Use the mixture to rinse your teeth after brushing (ideally in the evening) and voila! You can also apply it directly to the painful area for instant relief. It doesn’t taste great, but it sure is effective!

Clove essential oil is also great at solving digestive issues, especially bloating and stomach aches. Add 2 drops in a cup of boiling water, then drink the mixture (once cooled). You can add a tablespoon of honey to reduce and sweeten the rather strong taste of cloves.

In addition, mixed with lavender essential oil, clove essential oil is also fantastic in treating kidney stones as well as urinary tract infection. For this, take a bowl of hot water and add a drop of lavender essential oil and another drop of clove. Drink this mixture once or twice a day until the infection pains go away.

Citronella essential oil

Citronella essential oil will help you get a good night’s sleep by getting rid of mosquitoes. You have two options for this. You can put a few drops in your diffuser and let it diffuse all night.

Or you can also apply citronella essential oil diluted in a carrier oil, directly on your skin. Used this way, mosquito repellant action will last around 4 hours.

In addition, the lemony smell is a very effective anti-stress. It will help you fall asleep quickly, it’s a good alternative if you’re not a fan of lavender. Citronella essential oil is also a remedy to stabilise and regulate blood pressure, but also to relieve bouts of spasmophilia, fever and flu. Just take a cup of hot water with a single drop of this essential oil.

Peppermint essential oil

Very rich in menthol, peppermint essential oil is renowned for its analgesic and refreshing effects. It relieves almost all kinds of discomfort: itching, stings, bruises, redness, cold sores, acne, etc. Just apply it to the skin and let it work.

Peppermint essential oil is also used to relieve migraines and headaches as well as digestive issues. For this, put a drop in a cup of hot water and drink.
